A fully set-up studio, many lights on stands and bags all over the place? Well that sounds just like today’s shoot! We had some beautiful bags by Misha Barton to shoot for the new season. With all the different colors and styles it was really cool. It was my job to prepare the bags, write their different numbers down, describing them briefly and stuffing them with paper. Before the shoot i didn’t know that getting the perfect picture of a product takes such a long time! When doing a product shoot, everything has to look perfect. In one picture there is a wrinkle while in the other picture there is a shadow, so basically the pictures have to be taken all over again. Adding the time for setting up the studio and setting it down, such a product shoot can take days! Every bag has its own special detail that -of course- has to be in the picture. You can see product pictures on every website, in every advert etc. but you don’t really know how much work goes into every picture. Well after this long shoot, I can appreciate product pictures so much more and every time I see an advert or such I have a whole different point of view on it now.

Here I am… an intern at a photo studio on my way to my very first “first class” event at the famous Savoy in central London. As soon as we got off the tube and started walking towards our destination we could already see the huge building. Right next to the Thames, that’s where this enormous luxurious hotel is located. Sounds very fancy huh? Anyways, when we entered the building it felt like entering another world. All these expensive carpets, curtains etc. created a complete different atmosphere. After we got rid of our coats and prepared the cameras, the first guests started arriving at the Savoy. The women were dressed beautifully with stunning dresses and amazing hairstyles. They were accompanied by very handsome looking men in suits. A quartet was playing in the background softly, giving it a magical flair. After a while the room was packed with people and we were taking pictures non-stop. When everyone had arrived at the venue, the people started walking in the big ballroom. We followed them while taking even more pictures. As soon as I entered the massive room, I was literally speechless! It was decorated beautifully with flowers on every table, mirrors on the walls, chandeliers on the ceiling and round tables in the whole room. The guests went to their tables, sat down and ordered their choices for dinner whilst we were trying to catch the beauty of the room and its people in our pictures. Everyone was having small talk and it was a very posh atmosphere in the ballroom. When the president of the company went on stage though, everybody went quiet and was listening carefully to his speech. Afterwards the dinner started and we left the room. To sum it up I can say that it was an amazing experience for me! Being part of such a special event was really nice and I can’t wait for my next glamorous event.
