Video Production

Hello everyone,

I told you in my last post that our studio was rent for the whole week for a video production.

Therefore we had to darken the studio completely. This means that we put polyboards in front of every window and door so there was no daylight in the studio.

And this is why:

The studio was rent for a great video with glowing bodypaintings.

The bodypainting was done by Emma Allen (http://www.emmaallen.org/) who is an artist working in a range of mediums,  from sewing, murals, 3d art works and animation to make up and  face and body painting. She also founded an art charity (www.srilankacards.com)  based in Sri Lanka  running arts workshops and fund raising for disadvantaged children. She is indeed a very impressive woman and her work is absolutely great and amazing!

I had a few looks inside the studio and I can guarantee that the video will look really admirable! I can’t wait to see it after post production.

More work…

Hello everyone!

As I told you in my latest post we had to do a lot of product shots last week for many different and interesting companies.

Yesterday we took pictures of the amazing products from “House of Rokoko” (http://houseofrokoko.com/) again.

Some really cool boxes with football player on top, sweet baby clothing, accessories for men and women and really fresh greeting cards.

For the rest of the week there will be a big video shot in our studio and I am really excited to learn about how this kind of video production works and what kind of skills you need to manage all the people around it.

All the best,

Vanessa

Week full of product shots

Hello everyone!

The whole week was really amazing and instructive for me. I helped our photographer in the studio and we had a lot of work to do.

First there were about 50 buckles and belts we took great pictures off. They all looked unique on their own. Some had crystals, there were a lot of skulls and other really cool looking buckles.

Then on Tuesday we made product shots of timeless classical fabrics with a contemporary twist from “The Silk Gallery” (http://www.thesilkgallery.com/index.html).

IMG_20140916_104842

After that my job was to steam the clothes of “Curate 8” (http://curate8.com/) and prepare them on the mannequins so our photographer could easily take pictures of the curated designs and some amazing vintage treasures.

On Wednesday we had a product shoot for “ISWAI”, an online fashion boutique (http://www.iswai.co.uk/).

The style of ISWAI is unique and refreshing and defenitly different from the high street mass! We took pictures of stylish clothing, beautiful jewelery and trendy bags.

But Wednesday wasn’t over yet! I think our photographer and me are a really good team and so there was enough time left for a test product shot with interior lighting.

Finally today there is a big product shot in our studio for “Lipsy” (http://www.lipsy.co.uk/). I am really excited because Lipsy is a young British fashion brand founded in the heart of London.

Tomorrow there is going to be another product shot for “House of Rokoko” (http://houseofrokoko.com/).

Check out the website because there are already product shots from us on it!

As you can see, the week is fully booked out for product shots ans I’m glad that I can learn as much as possible.

Have a nice week,

Vanessa

Adventures in London

Hi everyone!

today I officially had my last real day in London. The last weeks showed again how beautiful London is. I visited Columbia Road Flower Market, Brick Lane and of course Big Ben, London Eye and Tower Bridge again, to have a look at these beauties one last time. By now I can really say that I feel home in London and I will miss it so much!
Tomorrow will be my last day in The Light Studios which will be a lot of work as always so I am excited for that.
But for now, enjoy the photos I took of London and have a great rest of the week!
All the best,
Mara

Amazing Crystal Boxes

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I was at the studio with Paul and we had to take different pictures of some amazing crystal boxes from “House of Rokoko”.

But it was a really difficult shooting because of all the reflecting crystals!

It took us hours to get the right light settings and therefore all the experience from Paul was really necessary.

But at the end, as always, the product pictures of Paul looked amazing and you can’t see the difficult problems behind these pictures.

I think this is what a excellent photographer must be able to do. If you look at pictures you just have to see the beauty of it not the troubles behind it.

Here are the boxes which had to be photographed:

So I learned a lot of difficult light settings yesterday and can’t wait to do another shoot with our amazing photographer

All the best,

Vanessa

Beautiful London

Hello everyone,

we finally get to show you the pictures we took of North and South-East London.

It is crazy how versatile London is and how much you can do. Vanessa and I spent a day each exploring the parts of London. We went to Greenwich, the Docklands, Camden Market, Regent’s Park, Baker Street, King’s Cross and many others. All of these places have their own character and are beautiful in their own way. London definitely has to offer something for everybody. You could probably spend your whole life looking at all the beauty without getting tired of it and always recognising something new.

We learned how to photograph architecture, which is a nice thing to learn by doing it yourself. We planned the route we wanted to walk to visit all the places we thought would turn out great in our photos beforehand and then spent the day walking that route and stopping at each place for several minutes, sometimes hours, to definitely get the best out of it. We tried different angles and perspectives and it was very interesting to see how much things like that can change a photo.

But I will stop rambling and just show you the pictures that we took. Enjoy!

Let me know what you think in the comments and if you have any recommendations for places we should visit next in London we would really appreciate it.

Have a great week,

Mara

My very first product shot by myself

Yesterday I had the studio on my own for about 3 hours, thank you for that Francesca!

I tried to apply the skills I have learned in the studio so far.

I set the different lights and the backdrop and I took pictures from everything I could find!

Here are some examples:

007 016 048

I know that I have to achieve a lot of more experience and the pictures aren’t perfect.

But this is why I am doing my internship at “The Light Studios” to learn as much as possible in photography until I am going to leave London in December and going back to Germany.

All the best,

Vanessa

My first Wedding

Hi everyone,

after exciting days in the studio I am finally back in the office for all the organisational stuff that I have left behind the past weeks. Today I started uploading the pictures I took of my first wedding as a photographer.

 4 15 19 95  127 141

These pictures I took in the first weeks of my internship. I can’t believe how fast time is going by, next week I’m already going home! But I love thinking about what I experienced and I am very grateful for all the memories. Especially the wedding was very nice and it was interesting to see how a British wedding differs from a German one and what is similar on the other hand.

In the next week I definitely want to see more from London because I feel like there is so much more stuff waiting for me. You can never leave London without the feeling that you missed something I guess. You always have to come back.. and I certainly will!

But that’s enough for the sentimental bla bla, there’s still more than one week to go. So stay tuned for more behind the scenes!

All the best,
Mara
